About
Hala AlHaid is an Animation Director and Writer based in Riyadh. Formally trained in Digital Arts (Animation & Motion Arts) at Pratt Institute in New York, her foundation spans the entire tactile and visual pipeline, from stop-motion fabrication to 3D world-building. Over a decade of practice, this medium-wide mastery has centered on a single core drive: crafting intimate, character-driven narratives anchored in human truth.
With years spent shaping university Filmmaking curricula and teaching Screenwriting at King Saud University, Hala approaches story with a rigorous, character-first methodology. She views animation not as a stylistic filter, but as a space of endless narrative possibility, where emotional realities, memory, and metaphor can be rendered visually.
Her directorial work balances broad visual appeal with deep thematic resonance. Her 3D short The Palm Witch won international festival selections and was acquired by Netflix Middle East for the inaugural New Saudi Voices showcase. Her current slate reflects an evolution into deeply personal, multi-generational storytelling, led by the short film Desert Goldfish, an exploration of memory, identity, and relational bonds.
Beyond her original directorial slate, Hala brings her structural precision and narrative supervision to collaborative screenwriting and story development across animated and live-action projects.
