Hala Alhaid

Hala AlHaid is an Animation Director and Writer based in Riyadh. Her work explores the emotional and imaginative possibilities of animation as a medium for intimate, character-driven storytelling. She is drawn to narratives that cross personal and cultural boundaries, using animation as a space for reflection, metaphor, and emotional truth.

Hala earned her Master of Fine Arts in Animation and Motion Arts from Pratt Institute in New York. Her short films, The Dark Cloud (stop-motion) and The Palm Witch (3D), have screened at regional and international festivals, including the Red Sea International Film Festival, the Saudi Film Festival, Malmö Arab Film Festival, and Original Narrative Film Festival, among others.

Her previous work has also been featured on streaming platforms such as Netflix Middle East. Although distribution terms have since ended, her films remain an important part of her artistic practice and are available to view privately on request.

Hala is currently developing an original animated project as Writer and Director, continuing her exploration of narrative, identity, and visual world-building.
